Key Literacy words Perspective, imagination, scale, composition and Goya
Discuss various techniques artists have used to show distance. Discuss variations in style from artist to artist, as well as different points of view, building shapes, ways of overlapping, patterns, colours, etc. Show Goya's images of the Giant, especially the Giant with the village.
Students will choose an animal or creature to make as a giant in a cityscape. We discuss the various shapes of buildings and the details on them. We look at the variety of colours used. (For variation, students can also draw these as Giants in the ocean, garden, closet, dresser drawers, under the bed, etc.).
Students will now complete their own Giant drawing, taking into consideration the art elements discussed.
Students will: -Access and views artworks from recent and other times, responding to particular elements -Learn about composition, line, pattern, shape and focal point. -Consider Art Elements such as pattern, line, composition, shape and colour including basic colour theory (warm/cool) - -Be introduced to basic principles of perspective, scale and proportion - Select, plans and construct art works using combination of skill, technique, processes and conventions
